I lost some pencils and I want to know if you have them?

Upon rising this morning, I was faced by shear horror when I noticed that some of my pencils were missing. With tears running down my cheeks, while drinking my morning coffee, I could not help but to look with solace at the other pencils that remain.

My head kept spinning and asking… Why and who could have done such a terrible thing? Yes, it is true that they are # 2 pencils, but in my heart, they will always be # 1!

The sun was shining on my face but not in my heart. Once I gathered my thoughts and composure, a great idea popped into my head. It was time to be proactive and start asking questions. Trying to “pin-point” some suspects. Just like any modern day detective, I immediately went to Facebook, where I posted the following… I lost my pencil and I want to know if you have it?

Yes, I know that was very sneaky of me, I was missing several pencils, but I only confessed to be missing one. I knew that my friend’s answers would give me definite clues that would hopefully lead me, and ultimately “point” to, the guilty party or parties. I must say that none were very kind about my loss, most were actually just plain cruel.

I quickly sharpened my wits (no pun intended), put myself together and in an act of self-preservation, I tried to erase all the bad feelings from earlier. I spotted each and every comment and made sure to “read between the lines.” I did not want to draw any conclusions, not without the facts. But, what I found disturbing, was apparently this type of  behavior had been happening for years! One of my Facebook friends even confessed to being a “pencil collector”… A confession that is not only atrocious but un-erasable. Granted none of  it is written in stone, but might as well be, it is all now on Facebook!

The abuse continued when one of my friends went as far as asking me… what is the point of this? Her actual words were and I quote… “Life is like a pencil…it has to have a point…^_^”  Can you imagine? I just burst into tears!

To my dismay, a family member even made a comment in Spanish stating and I quote… “¡Se ve que no tienes más nada que hacer!” Making a mockery of my pointless life without my pencils! :-(

The mockery and blunt abuse continued, but I just don’t have the strength nor the heart to tell all of them about the love for my pencils.  I have posted some flyers around the neighborhood with hopes of more clues. Posters which I had to write with pen and some I even had to print directly from my computer, as I dare not touch the few pencils that these criminals left behind.

I don’t want anyone to panic though as some clues have lead to some conclusions and I have some professionals penciling out some sketches for me. Of course, these professionals do not use # 2 pencils, so it is hard for them to sympathize with my ordeal, one of them even said and I quote “we are more into paper”.  In the meantime if you hear or know something in regards to this event, please feel free to write a line or two on the matter as perhaps it may shed some light. For now, I am just taking names, so be careful with what you say as EVERYONE is a suspect. Of course, I can’t write those names with pencil as it would all be erasable, but just know that no-one is out of the woods yet.

If you are writing something as I am passing by and I call out a name, don’t be scared… I am just looking for my pencils!

P.S. I have contacted the local authorities, but just like my Facebook friends, they don’t give a crap!

Disclosure: I did not take the picture above, I do not know who did, but seems that whoever took it was very bored that day!
