And let there be light!

I am very humbled, happy and excited to have been nominated for the Illuminating Blogger Award. The nomination came from a writer who not only has an incredible gift with words, but it is someone who I among many others consider a gifted writer. One of those that is just hard to find these days. His impeccable way of writing takes you on journeys into worlds of adventure, full of excitement in every corner, deep and meaningful. Always leaving you wanting for more! It is therefore an honor for me to receive this award from such a talented person.

I therefore want to humbly thank The Blazing Trail for such an honor :-)

In keeping with the rules, the nominee should visit the award site (http://foodstoriesblog.com/illuminating-blogger-award/) and leave a comment indicating that they have been nominated and by whom. (This step is so important because it’s the only way that we can create a blogroll of award winners).

The following are my personal nominees, these are five blogs which I follow, I have enjoyed very much what they share.

Each and every one of them offer insightful information which will surely delight all of you as well.

Drum roll PLEEEAAASSSSEEE!

The Oneness of YOU

See on Scoop.itToday In The News

Books find me in the strangest of ways.  If I am in a bookstore they literally jump from the shelves.  I know this sounds nuts but it is a phenomenon I cannot explain.  Because of my stubbornness there are only a few things that bring me to stop and listen intuitively. One is when my body shuts down like it has done recently; the other, through written words, signs or books.
Three years ago, when I was struggling to end my…  See on momentswithmillie.wordpress.com

Is Klout all about perks, perks and more perks? – By Ingrid Jackson

Oh yes baby, it is!

It wasn’t long ago that I joined Klout. For me it all started because a friend of mine, Michael Ballard a Resiliency and Positive Outcomes Expert, President and CEO at Resiliency For Life joined and loved it so much, that he could not help but make a big fuss about it. I trust Michael implicitly, so I decided to check it out and joined. Of course the first thing that I noticed was his score, which I guess makes him some sort of internet royalty.

My personal take on Klout was that it kind of works like your credit score, but instead of being based on your credit, it is based on your online activities and level of influence.

So what is the purpose of Klout and how does it work?

The purpose is to join, be as active as you can possibly be within your online circles and score as high as possible. The more active that you are, the higher your score. The pay off for being the best at what you do is that companies with very desirable brands will send you lots of FREE stuff, many of them will be relevant to what you are good at. For example, if you are good at sports commentaries, you are very active at posting stuff about sports and have a great follow, then you will probably get a lot of free sport stuff.

You will start receiving your goodies once you score high enough. Your score has to be high enough to be called an “influencer” which is the stage where I currently am. Whatever happens beyond that, I have no idea, but will certainly share as soon as I find out and of course, and if I get there!

Once you sign up, all you have to do is link all of your accounts to your Klout account, such as your Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Linkedin, YouTube, Flickr, Blogger, Instagram, etc… Then keep on doing whatever it is that you have been doing all along. Klout, will then keep track of all of your likes, comments, followers, etc, thus, generating a score for you, based on your online activities, reach and influence level.

Once your score is high enough, companies will start sending you stuff. I am sure that just like I did, many people question if the stuff that is sent is really good stuff, if it is crap and if all you get is mere samples. Well, I can’t speak for everyone else, only for myself and based on my personal experience with Klout, you do get GOOD stuff!

Last week, I got my first shipment of goodies. I received a bottle of Essie Nail Polish, from their summer collection, named Mojito Madness. The color is vibrant and beautiful and the nail polish I do have to say is of very high quality. It dries very quickly and shiny, not dull at all! I did not receive a “tester” or  a “sample bottle“, I actually got the real deal which currently retails for $8.00, not bad huh? Not a car, but a great start!

I was also promised the Roc Multi Correxion Nourish Stress Repair Night Cream. I thought, no way I’ll get the whole thing, for sure this will be a sample little thingy. I was very surprised to get the whole 1.7 oz which retails for $24.99. I am delighted to tell you that I am very happy with these products, not only did they keep their promise, but the products ARE top-notch. And not because I got them for free, the cream does work great! It leaves my skin feeling smooth, silky and looking youthful. I am hooked, I absolutely love it!

I do want you all to know that if these products were crap, free or not, I would tell you. And those of you who know me by now, know that crap is not necessarily the word that I would use either and  I am not ashamed about it. There is no point in elevating something that does not work, just because I got it for free as that would not be fair to anyone, including the company that in this case would be selling crap.

In the name of fairness and justice, if a product is not good or not to my liking, I will definitely share that too, free or not!

For now, I am a “happy camper” and look forward to more perks. A note to the people from Klout, in case you are reading this… My favorite cars come from Chrysler, unless of course you are able to upgrade that to a silver cloud Rolls Royce, Jaguar or my fave of all times a Bugatti Veyron 16.4. While you work that out for me, wink, wink… I’ll just keep on dreaming about my favorite cars while enjoying the wonderful perks that I am getting for my hard work and for being a Klout member, while maintaining as well as improving my Klout score.

Thank you Klout and let the perks begin!
